PARISH LENTAN MISSION

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: As you know, leading up to Easter this year we had a two-evening Lentan Mission. Following the mission (which many people referred to as a “retreat”) there was a survey for those who attended and those who did not.
The purpose of the survey was to determine:

  1. would there be another Lentan Mission next year

  2. if so, what would be the format, and

  3. what would be the theme

I am very pleased to report there will be a Lentan Mission 2025. At this time the exact details have not been decided. Thanks to the many people who completed the survey, however, we do know there will be changes to the format. This will mean many who could not attend mission 2024 will be able to make plans to attend mission 2025. Changes to mission format resulting from survey findings include:

  • two weekday evenings, but not consecutive

  • earlier in the evening, starting with a light dinner

  • special programming for young children

  • carpooling arrangements for those traveling from Vernon and Kelowna

  • a detailed program will be announced as early as possible

  • a hard copy and digital version of the program for parishioners to use as an invitation to friends and family

The mission will take place sometime during the weeks of 31 March and 7 April. Although the theme for the mission is yet to be decided, we do know the mission will include: prayer, live music, presentations, scripture readings, small and whole group discussions, silent adoration and confessions. We also know the theme will include materials that celebrate the Year of Christ the King.

A full report on survey findings can be viewed on the St. Edwards website.

A big thank-you to all who provided suggestions about mission theme. Several options for the mission theme are being explored. One or two meeting will be convened to finalize the mission program.
